A Message from the President of BCPA

Thank you for your interest in learning more about our association. The Bergen County Psychological Association (BCPA) is an affiliate of the New Jersey Psychological Association (NJPA).  Membership is composed of licensed or license-eligible psychologists who live or work in Bergen County and who are members of The American Psychological Association (APA) or NJPA.  In addition, students who are enrolled in graduate programs in psychology are eligible to join BCPA as student members. (Please click on the “Membership” section to see complete information on membership requirements.)

BCPA exists to serve the professional needs of our members and to assist in providing services to the general public.  Meetings for our members focus on continuing education programs and provide the opportunity to develop relationships with colleagues in Bergen County.  Members are available to community organizations as resources/ speakers on a variety of mental health topics.  (Please click on the “Mission Statement” section to see complete information on the mission and purposes of BCPA.)

The work of BCPA depends on the active involvement and service of our members.  I urge all Bergen County psychologists to join our association so that we may continue to work together at the local level to provide the highest standards of mental health services to the residents of our county.  At this time when mental health practice is subject to increasing pressures from eternal sources it is vital that we remain committed and steadfast as a profession in safeguarding the rights of our patients/clients and the expertise and responsibilities of our profession on the national, state, and local levels.  If you are not yet a member of  BCPA, please click on the “Membership” section and download a membership form to join  BCPA.

To those of you who are BCPA members, I thank you for your involvement in BCPA and I urge you to consider becoming more active by joining one of our committees and/or becoming part of the BCPA Board.  To all of you who are visiting our website, please take advantage of the links to the APA and NJPA websites which contain a wealth of information on psychological issues and psychotherapy.  I also urge all of you to click on the section above, www.speakyourmindnj.org, to see how you can support the efforts of NJPA to safeguard insurance coverage for mental health care, the rights of mental care providers, and the privacy rights of those who avail themselves of psychotherapy services.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have.
